Q&A with Featured Artist Monique Abel

Where did your love of beauty originate?

My love of beauty originated when I was around 12/13 – I think that’s generally around the time girls start to become more concerned with their physical appearance. I started to experiment with makeup my mum had bought me and found myself sitting in front of the mirror for hours practising different makeup looks – from there my passion grew and lead me to where I am today.

Which facial feature do you think is the most appealing?

Eyes! They are the first thing (aside from eyebrows) that you notice on somebody’s face. I love the way you can play them up or down with different makeup looks.

What is your favourite make-up look for the eye?

My favourite “go-to” makeup look for the eyes would definitely have to be a blown out, bronzed smokey eye! I find bronze and neutral toned eyeshadows extremely wearable, complimentary on all skin and eye tones and versatile for either day or night.

What is your go-to make-up product for a fast day into night look?

To glam and intensify my day time makeup, my go to product is eyeliner. I love a classic winged liner for a night out – it adds an instant emphasis to your daytime makeup.

Please enlighten us on your thoughts about the future of make-up.

Make up is an industry that is constantly evolving with every changing year. I think we will be seeing a lot more “out of the box” trends as people are becoming a little edgier and daring with their makeup.

Challenge: if you were only allowed two products to create a look what would you use?

Mascara and a great eyebrow definer! Adding some mascara instantly boosts your complexion and gives you a “more awake” vibe and defining your eyebrows helps shape the face and add more definition to your eyes.

Can you give our followers your secret success makeup tip ?

Passion! I think to become successful in anything, you need to be passionate about what you are perusing. From a young age I have always loved makeup and beauty and it only grew as I got older.

Any tips for achieving the perfect brow?

Brows are so important for framing the face so it is essential you get them right! Do some research and try to find an amazing brow technician to take care of the waxing and shaping. To maintain your brows shape, invest in a great eyebrow definer to fill in the sparse areas.

If you could be any one of the Ancient Goddess OF Mythology… who would you be?

Hestia!

GODDESS FEATURE: Hestia

Hestia
Was the Greek virgin goddess of the hearth and home, or domestic life, and the giver of all domestic happiness and blessings which was looked upon as the sacred centre of life.

She was often pictured as a goddess in flame to symbolise the heat and warmth of keeping the home fires burning
